New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo Taps Hollywood for Re-Election Cash (Exclusive)

Abrams, Candy Spelling, Darren Star, Chris Albrecht, Kevin Huvane, and Laura and Casey Wasserman, among others. Smith and his partner, HBO executive James Costos. (Smith and Costos, who also maintain a residence in NY, have become key Democratic fund-rasiers, bringing in more than $1 million for Barack Obama's re-election campaign. ) Cuomo has long been a Hollywood favorite, partially because of the family name. Industry politicos have held fund-raisers for every office he's ever sought.But this time around, it's different. It's much more personal, especially for the industry's marriage equality activists, who watched in awe as Cuomo masterminded NY's gay marriage law.
